I wanted to apologize for not being able to finish the 12 Days of Christmas Cards and for not posting in so long. I'm not going to give a big long story, but sometimes life gets the better of us and things happen that we can't control. I enjoy posting and sharing my creativity with everyone and I hope that everyone who has followed and enjoyed my blog will continue to do so. Christmas Cards Day 7

Hello my stylish crafty friends! Welcome to day 7 of the 12 Days of Christmas Cards. Today I have two cards for you that feature the Making Memories Twinkle collection. The first card is a remake of a card I did last year, with a couple of changes. The stamp is by Inkadinkado and I used the Cuttlebug "Holly Ribbons" embossing folder and Fiskars Upper Crest border punch. I also used Distress Inks, Perfect Pearls Mists, hemp cord, and adhesive backed rhinestones.

The second card I used the Fiskars Scalloped border punch, the Cuttlebug Christmas Lace Tree embossing folder and the Tim Holtz ticket stamp. I also used Distress Inks, hemp cord and some adhesive backed pearls.

Thanksgiving/Black Friday Hangover & Day 6

Hello my stylish and crafty friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year and is now getting ready for the fast approaching Christmas holiday. I must admit I have a little bit of a holiday hangover. After stuffing ourselves, my sister and nieces and I braved the Target sale which opened at midnight. We arrived at 10 o'clock and the line was already half way around the building! By the time we got to go in we could still see the end of the line that had completely wrapped around the building and then some. It was quite the sight for our small town. I must say I will probably never do it again though. We also did (or tried to do) some other shopping Friday. So needless to say between the food and the family and the shopping I was ready to crash.

As you know, it's day 6 of the 12 Days of Christmas cards. Today is a quick share of some non-traditional Christmas cards made with the My Mind's Eye Merry & Bright collection. I hope you enjoy them and keep coming back to see the next 6 days!

Christmas Cards Day 5

Welcome to day 5 of the 12 Days of Christmas Cards my stylish crafty friends. Today I have a very simple, but pretty card to share featuring the Basic Grey Jovial collection. I used an EK Success punch and threaded it with ribbon. I also have some tags and card candy I made for a swap to share.

The tags were made with Rangers manilla tags and Tim Holtz seasonal paper. I used the Tim Holtz tissue tape t create the ruffle and added the rhinstones with the iRock. The swirly snowflake stamp is from Penny Black. I masked the Santa face ff and sprayed the rest of the tag with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in marshmallow and used Distress Inks to color the back of the tag.

T For the card candy I made 2 ribbon flowers using the Cosmo Cricket Glubers, a mini rosette using the Tim Holtz die and a Bazzill button that I tied with hemp cord. For the topper I used the Tim Holtz Mini Styled Labels die.

Christmas Cards Day 4

Welcome to the 4th day of the 12 Days of Christmas Cards my stylish crafty friends. Today is flashback day, we are going to take a look back at some past Christmas cards I've created. We'll start with my favorites. I made this set last year. It features stamps by The Greeting Farm and Penny Black and paper by 3 Bugs In A Rug (Snow Much Fun collection). The first card also features We R Memory Keepers stamps, Deckled Rectangles Nestabilities and an Ek Success border punch.

The second card I used another EK Success border punch and the Nestabilities Big Scalloped Ovals.

The third card is the Penny Black snowman and the edge of the card was cut with the Tim Holtz On the Edge dies by Sizzix.

The next card I'm featuring is a Cricut card that I created with the A Child's Year cartridge. The card was cut at 5.5 inches and the silhouette was cut 3.25 inches. I used Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls Mist t give it more of a vintage feel.

The next 2 cards were made with the My Minds Eye Merry and Bright Collection.

The last 2 cards feature papers by My Minds Eye and Basic Grey, as well as Stamps by Inkadinkado. I also used hemp cord, Fiskar's Upper Crest border punch, Distress Inks, Perfect Pearls Mist and a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Christmas Cards Day 3

Hello my stylish crafters! Welcome to day 3 of the 12 Days f Christmas Cards. Today I have two cards for you. The first features paper from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses collection and Bo Bunny's Tis the Season Collection. The stamps are $1 stamps by Studio G and I used colored pencil on them. I also used hemp cord, a recollections flower embellishment and Nestabilities Labels 16.

The second card features Doodlebug, the Fiskar's Upper Crest border punch, Sizzix/Basic Grey embossing folder, Nestabilities Eyelet Circles, and the same flower embellishment from the first card.

Christmas Cards Day 2

Hello my stylish friends! Welcome to day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas Cards! Today I'm featuring 3 Cricut cards. All the cards were created with the Florals Embellished and Elegant Edges cartridges. The first card features My Minds Eye paper, a Tim Holtz stamp (Christmas ticket) and an Inadinkado stamp (Naughty or Nice ticket). The snowflake was cut at 4 inches (Elegant Edges) and the flowers were cut at 2 inches and 3 inches (Florals Embellished)

The second card also features My Minds Eye paper and the card is embossed with a Sizzix/Basic Grey embossing folder from the Eskimo Kisses line. The bracket border was cut by the length (not height) at 5.5 inches (Elegant Edges) and the flowers was cut at 2.5 inches (Florals Embellished). I also used Stickles and Distress Inks to make the card pop.

The third card features Fancy Pants paper and the stamp I'm not sure who it's by. I cut the scalloped pieces using the book pages function on Elegant Edges at 4 inches. I embossed the red piece with another Sizzix/Basic Grey embossing folder. The stick pin is by Tim Holtz.

Welcome to the first day of the 12 Days of Christmas Cards!

Hello my stylish friends! Today's cards feature papers by My Minds Eye. Both cards are based on the same design with a few minor changes. The first card I used an EK Success border punch and layered the two pieces so they were slightly off set.

The second card also used the same technique but with a different style of

punch. I also added eyelets to the scallops and used a lace rather than a ribbon.

Just For You, Just Because

Red and green isn't just for Christmas. Check out these two cards I recently made using the traditional holiday colors. The patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket, the rose ribbon is Webster's Pages and the scalloped circle card was cut with the Wild Card cartridge on my Cricut. Fall Favorites

Halloween is almost upon us so I wanted to share a couple of spooktacular 5x7 cards with you and a fabulous fall card as well. For the first card I used the Halloween Silhouettes stamp set from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous, the Sizzix Halloween Night Texture Fades embossing folder, the Sizzix Tattered Florals Alterations die, and an Inkadinkado Potions Labels stamp set. Everything was inked using Distress Inks and the flower was sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mist in Sunflower Sparkle.

For the second card I used paper from The Girls Paperie, the Sizzix Poison Label Texture Fades embossing folder, the bat stamp from the Tim Holtz Halloween Silhouettes stamp set, and another stamp from the Inkadinkado Potions Labels stamp set. Again everything was inked with Distress Inks and the bat was sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mist in Forever Violet.

And now for the bonus card! First I stamped multiple leaves from an Inkadinkado set in various colors, dusted them with Perfect Pearls (powder not mist) and cut each of them out. I arranged them around the sentiment center piece which was stamped with a Studio G set. The green background piece was inked with Distress Inks and sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mist in Heirloom Gold. I used my iRock tool too add the gold studs and voila! Beautiful fall card!

Elegant Monograms

As much as I hate to think about it, the holidays are just around the corner. So are you ready for a great holiday gift idea? How about a personalized set of monogram cards? I created these cards using the Elegant Cakes and Mini Monograms cartridges. The Elegant Cakes cartridge has so many fabulous shapes and borders that are perfect for cards. I used basic colors (black and white/brown and cream) and added a accent color to make them pop. These cards could easily be tailored to fit any individual. For example, if I was creating these for a guy I would probably switch out the dots for stripes or plaid, change the rhinestones to metal brads, use a solid piece of ribbon and swap the pink out for blue or a dark red. Hope this helps jump start your holiday crafting!

My Favorite Time Of Year

I can not believe it has been over a month since my last post! Things have been a little crazy around our house. Despite all of the madness though this is my favorite time of year here. We usually have our best weather, everything is changing color, Halloween is almost here and I get to take the boys to the pumpkin patch! I always get the best pictures there and can't wait to take them! The hay ride, apple cider and of course the pumpkins! Here's a layout I did of one of Dillon's school trips to the pumpkin patch. The paper and embellishments are by Imaginisce, I punched the border with a Fiskar's punch and the title block and letters were cut on my Cricut. Hope you are enjoying fall as much as we are. Glass Photo Coasters

My grandmother has the most beautiful flowers and I am forever taking pictures of them. I have accumulated quite a stack of photos and had no idea what I was going to do with them all. Until, she purchased her new living room set and I saw the old worn out coasters on her pretty new tables. I purchased 4 coasters from my local scrapbook store that were ready to add photos to. They had a black border painted on them that I didn't want so I lightly sanded them until it was gone. I stamped them with black Staz On ink and then used a gold paint dauber to do the background. They turned out so pretty I want to make some for myself and she loved them.

Diaper Cake

I have wanted to make a diaper cake ever since I first saw one and finally my good friend gave me a reason to. We had to put together a last minute baby shower for her sister with a monkey theme. I used the Create a Critter cartridge (one of my favs) a cut the monkeys, palm tree and vines. I used Don Juan for the name and embossed the letters with the Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder then sprayed them with Perfect Pearls mist to give them a little pop. I found the cute fabric at Joann's, as well as the ribbon and tulle. I was pretty happy with it and she loved it. Can't wait to do another one!

Exchange Student Class

I recently got the chance to teach a class to a group of teenage exchange students from Japan. I have to admit I was a little worried at first because it was 20 students and 2 teachers and they didn't speak very much english. But, everything turned out pretty well. They had never done any scrapboking before so they stuck to the examples pretty closely at first, but by the 3rd page they were adding their own creative touches to their pages and all of them really seemed to enjoy it. Since I have only boys in my house it's nice to do some girlie pages once in a while. And I could not ask for a cuter girl than my best friend's daughter Cadence. Isn't she adorable??? She's 4 and her mom and I have been friends since 6th grade. I only get to see them once or twice a year since they live half way across the country from me, but she sends lots of great pictures. Über Glüber Flowers

I am in Gluber love! Have you tried these gigantic glue dots from Cosmo Cricket yet? They are awesome and so easy! I sat down and made these 2 flowers in a matter of minutes. It took longer to decide which ribbon and centers to use than it did to make them. There are a couple of videos on youtube on how to make them and there are also directions on the package for 2 types. If you love using flowers on your cards and layouts you have to try these. Never search for the perfect flower again!

Rock Princess Cards

Hello! I have some "rockin" cards for you today using the Rock Princess cartridge. I have been trying to use cartridges I haven't used yet and this one was on the list. These are perfect teenager cards, the pictures really don't show all their sparkle and flash. The first one I used a lot of Stickles on, the phrase the bow and the eyes and nose. The black paper also has glitter on it.

The second card originally just said "rowdy" and I used my Gypsy and the Old West cartridge to weld in the word "get." The inside says "It's your birthday!" The pictures really don't do this one justice. The background paper is glittery dots and the silhouette of the girls is cut from a mirrored magenta cardstock with the letters in glossy black.

The last card I wanted to show you could do more than just girlie stuff with this cartridge, so I chose the winged guitar to make a boy card. Even though it has quite a bit of glitter and shine to it I think it is definitely a boy card.

Cricut Card Class Part 4

It's been a while, but I'm still here. Things have just been very busy in our family with birthdays and trips and all kinds of other things. Here is the final installment of my Cricut Cards series. The last class featured the Create a Critter cartridge (one of my favorites) and I don't think I could have come up with cuter cards. There's a birthday card, a thank you card and the last didn't have a specific purpose, but I thought it would be a really cute baby shower invitation. Cricut Card Class Part 3

For the 3rd class in my Cricut card series I used Wall Decor & More. These cards are much more simple than my normal style, but everyone seemed to really enjoy the class. I also tried to use more patterned paper for my cuts. I am really bad about only using solid colors. The first one is another "manly" card, with a quote that made it usable for a lot of different occasions. The second is a simple thinking of you card and the third is a missing you card. I think the chandelier is my favorite even though it is so simple. Only one more class left in this series, Create a Critter!

A Few Quick Cards

Just a couple of quick cards. The first one is a birthday card for my father inlaw. I think male cards are harder than any other type of card. I don't know why, maybe it's because you can't just slap some flowers and frillies on it. I used one of the Tim Holtz embossing folders for the wood grain and inked it. I couldn't find paper I liked for the back ground, so I stamped and embossed the script on the green. The deer was cut from some patterned paper I've had forever.

The next 2 are some St.Patrick's day cards I made. The inside of the first one read "I found you at the end of my rainbow." I used the polka dot Cuttlebug folder and the scalloped circle Nestabilities and the leprechaun is a Jolee's embellishment. The second one is pretty simple, just some stamping, embossing and one of the label Nestabilities.

A Sweet Present for a Sweet Girl

With all the cute little pennant banners everywhere lately I have been dying to make one. My boys are a little too old for them though and the girly ones are so much cuter. So, I thought I would make one for my niece who is 4. I used a product called Carolina Board to cut the flag pieces (similar to chipboard, but it's white and has a finished surface) it cuts on the Cricut beautifully. I cover each flag in paper from Girls Paperie and then wrapped the top with Tim Holtz's tissue tape. I cut the letters for her name from a Child's Year and used the Tim Holtz rosette die for the end pieces. The whole thing was strung on tulle and I added little satin bows in between each flag. I hadn't seen her room in quite a while, I just remembered it had lots of pink and tinker bell, but the banner couldn't have matched more perfectly. I was so excited to send it to her that I didn't even take pictures before I boxed it up. She loved it though and I was excited to see the pictures of it up in her room.

A Child's Year Vintage Holiday Cards

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We are stuck inside here since it has been absolutely pouring all day long. My class this week was using the Child's Year cartridge to make some vintage looking holiday cards. So, I picked St. Patricks, Easter, 4th of July and Christmas. I used the Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls Mists on all of the cards. I think they came out pretty cute and the ladies in my class had a lot fun making them. I have two more classes left in Cricut card series, Wall Decor and More and Create a Critter. I was trying to use cartridges I hadn't used before, but the Create a Critter one is just so darn cute. Hello! Happy Friday! I made these cards for a series of Cricut classes I am teaching over the next 2 months. For these 3 I used the Elegant Cakes cartridge. I have to admit I am loving this cartridge. It defintely has some very beautiful, elegant images on it. As well as, 2 great fonts and quite a few nice borders. All the background papers are from the Echo Park "Be Mine" collection and I got to use a few of the new Stickles colors as well. While I like them all I think my favorite is definitely the teal card. Heritage Pages Part 2

Wanted to share the rest of the pages I have completed for my heritage album. The first and third ones are from my grandparents wedding and the second is my mom when she was a child. I used the same technique on the "True Love" layout as the one from yesterday, cutting out the flowers from a large patterned piece and adding some glitter, then adhering them with foam dots. The wedding layouts are Graphic 45 papers and the one of my mom is Bo Bunny's Olivia collection. Have a great Thursday!

So here is post #3 in my attempt at making up for 2 months of no posting. This is the first page of my heritage album I started last month. The background paper is Basic Grey "Curio" collection. The flowers are as well, I cut them from a 12x12 sheet, used Stickles to make them sparkle and layered them on the page using ALOT f foam dots in the process. The butterflies are K & Co. I used the font from the Elegant Cakes cartridge for her name and welded it together on my Gypsy. The pictures really don't do the page justice. I think it is one the top 5 pages I've ever done. I know! I know! Shame on me! Two months without a post, how terrible is that?! So I am going to try to make up for it. Here are 3 cards I did for a Valentine card class with the new "Be Mine" collection from Echo Park. I am loving this collection, it has so many great papers. I also used the Tim Holtz "Rosette" die on these for the first time and it is great. It makes putting the rosettes together so much easier. I also used his Styled Labels die and the brick wall embossing folder.

Penny Black and Greeting Farm

Happy Sunday all! Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Wanted to share batch 2 of Christmas cards. I love snowmen! I think they are my favorite holiday decoration because they are just so darn cute! And these stamps by Penny Black and Greeting Farm are no exception. I combined them with the "Snow Much Fun" collection from Three Bugs in a Rug to make these 4 really cute very nontraditional cards. I also used my iRock to give them a little bling. If you haven't tried the iRock from Imaginisce yet you really should. I've used it on cards, scrapbook pages and even gave my littlest ones play guitar a little bling. It's fabulous!

This first card is the Penny Black stamp. I love the big puff ball on his head and his cute smile. I used the Tim Holtz "Brackets" edge die on this one. I found the easiest way for me to get the paper to stay lined up on the die was to put a little adhesive on each corner of the card actually stick it to the die. It comes off the die easily and is cut off the card when you run it through your machine.

The next three cards feature the "Keep Cozy" set from Greeting farm. This is a great set and super cute. It has 3 snowmen, 4 sentiments and a snowflake.

Winter Wonderland Cards

Well Thanksgiving was a success in our house and I hope all of you had a wonderful day spent with loved ones. Now that we have that holiday out of the way it's on to Christmas! So here is batch one of Christmas cards. Unfortunately the pictures did not turn out as well as I had hoped, the embossing with my Cuttlebug just didn't show up. I used 3 different snowflake Cuttlebug folders and the Winter Woodland cartridge to cut out all the sentiments. They came out simple but pretty.

Playing Catch Up

Well I have officially failed at my new years resolution to post consistently on this blog. Life, kids, work and school can be a little over whelming at times. Even though I haven't stayed on top of my posting, I have still been crafting (a little anyway). So lets start with the Halloween box. I used the Happy Hauntings cartridge to create this coffin/Frankenstein box. All of the pieces have little tabs at the bottom that slide into little slots in the top of the box. There are a few things I would change if I redid it, but for all intents and purposes I was pretty happy with it.

The next project I did was a set of winter themed cards using both the Cuttlebug and the Cricut. I used the Winter Woodland cartridge to cut all of the sentiments, nestabilities fr the scalloped circles on the "Winter Wonderland" card, and the small snowflakes with rhinestone centers are from Jolee's. My favorite is the "Magic of Winter" card. It was very simple but the stickles gave it just the right amount of bling, I've since added a few rhinestones to it as well.
I don't want too make this post too long so I will save the wedding layouts I did for another post. I also have another set of cards that feature Penny Black and Greeting Farm stamps that I am very excited about. If I don't get a chance to post again before the holiday have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the time spent with loved ones, we don't realize often enough how special it is. Happy Thanksgiving!

Halloween Cards

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted. Life is crazy as usual. I unexpectedly decided to go back to school at the last possible minute and although I'm doing it online, between that, the kids being back in school, work and teaching class it hasn't left a whole lot of time left. I also received some rather disappointing news that my Halloween box that was chosen by Cricut did not make it into their video. :( As much as I love my Cricut I have to admit I'm a little disappointed with Provo Craft at the moment. BUT enough venting on to the fun stuff!

Just in time for Halloween, some fabulously cute cards! This set of three cards features Basic Grey Eerie papers, Bo Bunny Whoo-ligans papers and cardstock stickers, Making Memories Toil & Trouble skull flowers, and some fabulous stamps.

This first one features a haunted wine label stamp and the skull flowers, both of which I love! I used three colors of Distress Inks (Peeled Paint, Orange Marmalade, Dusty Concord) blended together and spritzed with water to give it that water color look. I stamped the image in black ink while the cardstock was still a little wet and got a kind of old mildewy look to it. Then I distressed the edges and inked with black

This second one is pretty basic. Lots of layers and the really cute Bo Bunny papers and cardstock stickers.The last card features the back sides on the Bo Bunny papers and some Inkadinkado stamps with some rhinestone embellishments. My Family Layout

Hello all! Hope everyone has enjoyed their long holiday weekend. I know we have. This weekend was my little ones 6th birthday and we celebrated with family in the sun. The kids played in the pool and we attempted to make a monster truck cake. It was the funniest thing, but he liked it and that's what matters. LOL

Now on to the layouts! I am always the one behind the camera, so pictures of me and the boys are rare. Even though I'm in these pics I also was the one taking them. They're fun though and they are some of my favorites. I did these layouts with the Scrapper's Edge monthly kit that featured the Fancy Pants "My Family" line. I LOVE this line! I can't believe it has been almost a month since I posted! Shame on me! Life around here has been hectic though. We moved into a new house, I had 2 classes to teach, plus all the normal day to day that comes with having a husband and 2 boys. Now on to the fun stuff!

My card class for the month is pocket cards. I did two different types, the diagonal double pocket with 2 tags and the criss cross card. I was really happy with how they turned out even if the diagonal double pocket one and I didn't get along so well at first (lol). Hello! It's been a while since I posted anything. Life is busy with working and having 2 kids out of school. Here are a couple of cards I made for my easel card class this month. Steppin Out With My Cricut

Time for another Cricut class this month and I wanted to try something new. I has already tried easel cards so I thought I would try my hand at stair step cards and I am sooooo glad I did. These cards turned out adorable! All of the cuts are from Create a Critter except the water on the "Splash" card (I did that by hand). I added some stickles, some pen accents and voila! Adorable kids cards. I thought they would also be a great way to present a gift card by just tucking it in to one of the folds. There are lots of pics below so be sure to scroll down. First off, happy Father's Day to all the wonderful fathers out there! I hope everyone is enjoying the day with their families. Although the husband had to work today I know we will be once he is home. Today I wanted to share the card I made for him. It's my first easel card I've posted and I am really liking these cards! The background stamp is from Hero Arts and of course I used my distress inks. The frame is chipboard that I painted with distress crackle paint and then rubbed ink over. The stamp in the frame is 7 Gypsies, I stamped it in copper and then over top of that in brown and embossed with clear embossing powder. The sentiment on the bottom is Unity that I also embossed with clear embossing powder. I added the ribbon and Tim Holtz gears and voila! Have a wonderful Father's Day and thanks for stopping by.

Distressingly Beautiful

It's been almost a year now since I was introduced to the Tim Holtz Distress Inks and I still love them as much as I did in the beginning. I created these 2 cards using the inks and stamps by Tim Holtz and Rubber Stamp Concepts. The first is all Tim Holtz stamps. I used the Martha Stewart doily lace border punch for the border at the bottom. The second is stamps from Rubber Stamp Concepts and an EK Success border punch. I used gold embossing powder on the Paris sentiment. The images were stamped cut and distress with the burnt edge technique, then adhered with dimensional glue dots. Thanks for looking!

Unity Weekend

This weekend I finally got to play with my new Unity stamp sets. The "Moments in Bloom & Naturally You" kit is amazing. I love all the flowers and sentiments. I was so inspired these two cards came together really quick. The bright blue and purple of the first one is so bright and fresh. I stamped the flowers first in green on the card, then I stamped a second image in purple and cut out the flowers. I used pop dots to make them stand out.

The second card is trifold card. The front was embossed with my Cuttlebug. I used the same technique as the first card for the flowers, then I attached the little tag.

I wanted to keep the "beauty" theme going on the second flap so I used the "beauty definition" stamp and bordered it with a Martha Stewart punch.

The butterflies are also a Martha Stewart punch that I carried throughout the card.

Sugar Sweet Paper Treats Victorian Challenge

So the first challenge over at the Sugar Sweet Paper Treats blog was to do something with a Victorian theme. Let me tell you this was not an easy thing for me. Having 2 boys and a husband there are not a whole lot of girlie things in my house, let alone anything Victorian. Thanks to the other ladies on the design team though I think I fumbled my way through it pretty well. Since my wedding pages are one of the few girlie things I get to do I figured that was a good place to start. All of the patterned papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle. I made the flowers by cutting a scalloped circle, misting it with water, pinching it in the middle and ruffling it out. Then attached a Prima flower and pearl brad to the top of it. The scalloped border on the bottom is an EK Success border punch and the "Bride" title is from K & Co. It's not the MOST Victorian project ever, but for not being my "thing" I thought it turned out pretty good. So I know Easter has been over for a month now, but Brayden picked out these pics for me to scrap the other day and since I need to get caught up anyway, here they are. I used the Kioshi collection from Basic Grey. The scallop borders and circles were done on my Cricut with Plantin Schollbook and Mini Monograms and the title is Thickers. I love how they turned out, the colors and patterns just went together so easy on this one. I also did another version of it for my other son using different colors and a few other things. Scrapbook Pal DT & Sugar Sweet Paper Treats!

Hello all! It's been a little while, but I'm back with some exciting news. First off, is the resurrection of my first design team, Sugar Sweet Paper Treats! The wonderful Cheryll (who is the reason I started this blog) had been very ill, but is now back in the swing of things. The first challenge has been announced and projects will be up on the 1st, it's Victorian theme. So be sure to check it out. Now on to more fun stuff!

The next announcement is my project for Scrapbook Pal's DT search. As a requirement for consideration I had to create a project and post it to my blog. So here are my 4 super cute Cricut cards featuring the new cartridges Just Because and Create A Critter! If you don't have these 2 cartridges in your collection yet you should! They are so much fun. Below are individual pics of the cards and instructions for each one. Enjoy!

Bee Happy CardCut one 6x6 inch card from green cardstock and round all 4 corners.
Using the shift key cut one 6 inch scalloped square from white cardstock.

(The scalloped square is located on the “Lazy Days” card)

Draw a dashed line around inner edge with black pen and adhere to card.
Using the “Word” function cut the “Bee Happy” title at 4 inches from blue cardstock.

Then using the “Word” function and the shift key cut the layer at 4 inches from yellow cardstock.
The bee and flowers are from the Create A Critter cartridge.
Cut the base layer for the bee at 2.5 inches from dark brown cardstock.

Next using the “Layer 1” function cut the head and stripe at 2.5 inches from yellow cardstock.

Using the “Layer 2” function cut the wings at 2.5 inches from light blue cardstock.
The flowers are located on the fawn/butterfly key. Using the accessory key cut the flowers at 3 inches from green cardstock.

Then using the accessory key and the shift key cut the blooms at 3 inches from pink cardstock.
Layer title and bee pieces and adhere to card.
Layer flower pieces and cut the far right flower and grass from the others.

Adhere the piece with to flowers to the left of the title and the single flower to the left of the title.
Cut a 5.5x5.5 inch white piece and adhere to inside of card.

A Little Bird Told Me Card

Cut one 4.25x5.5 inch card from white cardstock.
Using the “Word” function cut the “A Little Bird Told Me” title at 4 inches from yellow cardstock.

Then cut the layer at 4 inches from blue cardstock using the “Word” function and the shift key.
Using the shift key cut the scalloped rectangle from white cardstock at 5 inches.

(this shape is located on the “You Quack Me Up” card.)
The bird is from the Create a Critter cartridge. Cut the base from dark brown cardstock at 2 inches
Using the “Layer 1” function cut the body from light blue cardstock at 2 inches.
Using the “Layer 2” function cut the wing and flower from a darker blue cardstock at 2 inches.
Next cut a 3.75x5.25 inch piece from blue cardstock and round the corners.

Draw a dash/dot line around outer edge with white pen and adhere to card.
Adhere white scalloped rectangle to card in the center of the blue piece.
Layer title and bird pieces and adhere to card.
Cut a 3.75x5 inch piece from blue cardstock and adhere it to the inside of the card.

Cute As A Bug Card

Using the “Word” function cut the “Cute As A Bug” title at 4 inches from pink cardstock.

Draw a dashed line in black pen around the inner edge of the rectangle and adhere to card.
Layer ladybug and title pieces and adhere to card.
Cut a 3.75x5 inch piece from green cardstock and adhere to the inside of the card.

Cut one 5.5 inch scalloped card from light blue cardstock
Next cut one 7 inch apple from green cardstock using the “Layer 1” function T
hen cut the red layer at 7 inches using the “Layer 1” function and the shift key.
Using the “Layer 2” function, cut the stem from brown cardstock at 7 inches.
Using the “Word” function, cut the “Apple of My Eye” title at 5 inches from green cardstock and the layer at 5 inches
from yellow cardstock using the “Word” function and the shift key.
Cut a 2.5 inch strip of white cardstock and adhere it to the card in the center.
Draw a dashed line in black pen along the top and bottom of the strip.
Layer apple and title pieces and adhere to card.
Cut a 3.25x4.5 inch piece of white cardstock and adhere to the inside of the card.

Scrapbook Pal DT Entry

It's been a little while but I'm back and I have some exciting news. First off I wanted to debut my newest project and entry for the Scrapbook Pal DT. 4 super cute cards made with the new Cricut cartridges Just Because and Create A Critter. And second the ressurection of my first design team Sugar Sweet Paper Treats! The wonderful Cheryll who had been terribly ill is back in the swing of things and picking up the DT where we left off. The first challenge is victorian theme and will be up on June 1st.

On to the project! These cards turned out so cute and I am in love with the Create A Critter cartridge. Pictures and directions are below so have a look and if you haven't gotten these 2 cartridges yet I highly recommend them.

So here they are finally! The cards set for my April Cricut class. The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy and unfortunately I didn't get to do all of the things I was trying to get done. I did get these cards finished scanned and ready to go though, so here they are! I used the Forever Young and Sentimentals cartridges for these cards. I love the two silhouette cards, but am not completely thrilled with perfume card. It just seems like it's missing something. I did have a lot of fun doing these though. They were very girly and different from what I normally do. Enjoy!

Busy Week!

The last week has been super busy. Friday was my 30th birthday and thanks to my wonderful husband, family and friends it was a great one. This weekend is the husbands birthday and we are off to spend a couple of days at a cabin with some friends. Since I have been trying to keep my resolution this year and keep my blog up to date I just wanted to post a quick note and let you know what's coming up. In the next week I will have 2 Easter layouts to share and some super cute cards for my Cricut class this month featuring Forever Young and Sentimentals. A Tisket A Tasket A Cricut Easter Basket

For my Cricut class this month I created this super cute Easter basket. The basket is from Tags Bags Boxes and More. The front of the bask (above) has flowers and a tag from the Mother's Day seasonal cartridge, butterflies from a Martha Stewart punch and an egg stamp from the dollar stamps at Michael's. The grass all the way around was done with a paint dabber. The flowers on the rest of the box are from Walk In My Garden. You can find a tutorial on how to make the dimensional ones here:

A Little Fall

So I know it's spring, but Cards magazine had a call for fall cards and I decided to give it a try. I've never submitted anything for publication, so I figured why not! For the background I used Distress Inks, then stamped over them with one of the new Hero Arts background stamps and dusted it with Perfect Pearls. The tree stamp is from Inkadinkado and "autumn" is a Studio G stamp. For the border I used an EK Success punch, then added the ribbon and button to finish it off. Cross your fingers, maybe it will get picked! Check back later this week for my adorable Easter Cricut project!

These sets are so cute I just couldn't wait to use them. The background was done using Tim Holtz Distress Inks (I now have all the new colors) and the "Where You Should Be" set from {ippity}. The "hi" sentiment is a Unity stamp from "Little Buggers" set and the little scalloped border is from the {ippity} "Sweet Thoughts of Spring" set. Kaisercraft's Peachy Keen Card Set

Have you seen the new Peachy Keen papers from Kaisercraft? I just love them the colors and patterns are so pretty. My other love lately has been making card sets rather than single cards, so what better way to combine the two than with this cute set! Bevy of Unity Butterflies

I have recently become a huge fan of Unity Co. stamps! http://unitystampco.com/home They have the cutest designs and I love that they are red rubber cling mount stamps. My favorite set at the moment is Bevy of Butterflies. It's a great set of butterflies that stamp and emboss really well and are easy to cut out.

My first project with them is the cards set I created below with the houndstooth butterfly. Its the first set I've created in a while and I'm really happy with it. The papers are mostly K & Co. and Bazzill cardstock. I stamped the butterflies in a grey ink and then embossed them with clear embossing powder.

Belated Valentines

With all the hustle and bustle this past weekend and then getting a cold this week I never found time to post my valentines projects so I want to get them up tonight for you. There are lots of pics to look at so make sure you scroll to the end of the post! The first pic is of our valentines gifts to each other. My hubby was very sweet and got me the cute little gorilla and roses.

Valentines Box!

Here it is finally! My valentines box I created for my Cricut class next month. I had a lot of fun trying to figure out what to put on each side and how to make the top pretty since it had to be able to split in half. There are lots of pictures and details about creating it so have a look. Also Friday I will be announcing the big giveaway! Here's a hint..... the more people who join the bigger the prize! So make sure to tell all of your friends.

The box was cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More on the 12x24 mat using the "fit to page" feature. After it was cut I used Fired Brick Distress Ink to ink the edges and give it a little more texture. The top is a heart from Love Struck that I glitzed up with some Stickles. It had to be cut in half and then adhered to each side of the box closure.
Side one was all cut from Sweethearts. First I cut the rose bouquet for the stems and wrapping. I cut off the roses and replaced them with individual flowers using Ranger's Dimensional Pearls for the centers and Glimmer Mist in pashmina for the sparkle.
Side 2 was cut from Love Struck. I used Glimmer Mist again and Stickles on the letters. I also used 3D Glue Dots to adhere it to the box and give it dimension.

Side 3 was a little different. The heart is from Sweethearts and the medallion piece is a 1.5" piece of patterned card stock folded every half inch and then glued together at the ends. (Sorry not the best explanation) The word love was a $1 stamp from Michael's that I heat embossed.

Side 4 was a combination of both cartridges. The hearts are from Sweethearts and the words are from Love Struck. I used Stickles on the blackout part of the hearts and Glossy Accents on the words.

Wedding Pages Part 2

I am having so much fun creating these wedding layouts. Its a nice break from all the "boy" stuff I do. I think it will take me a while to finish though since I am always having to squeeze other projects in between pages. The first page is Making Memories paper. The border strips were done with the Martha Stewart 3 Dot Scallop punch. The flowers are from the Pagoda cartridge. I love these flowers! On the cartridge they are 2 layers, which I did in the white and burgundy, but to give them a little sparkle I added a third layer of iridescent vellum and attached only the center so the petals would actually come off the page. Then to finish them off I added pearls for the centers and some rhinestone flourishes. The title "James & Amy" was cut from Gypsy Font and then covered in Glossy Accents for a little shine.

The second page I scrap lifted from a Scrapbooks Etc. magazine. The word "Love" was cut from Storybook and the heart is from Love Struck. For the patterned strip I started with Making Memories silver polka dot paper and stamped the flowers and butterflies on it. Then I used the Fiskar's Apron Lace border punch for each side.

Wedding Pages Part 1

James and I have been married almost 5 years, but I have never even tried to do a scrapbook for our wedding until now. The weekend of our earthquake I was at a crop and had completely forgotten to grab my case of photos so the only thing I had with me to scrap was the wedding photos. The colors I chose to do our album in are actually not our wedding colors. I was inspired by the Little Yellow Bicycle Love Letters collection, that I fell in love with last year and decided to use the color scheme for the whole album.

For the first page I used the Storybook cartridge for the die-cut background and Sweethearts for the "you & me" title. I used Stickles on the Prima Flowers to give them some sparkle and the rhinestone swirls are also from Prima.

The Second page is done on Making Memories paper. The "Mr. & Mrs." title is again from Sweethearts, the date was done in Gypsy font and the butterflies are from the new Sentimentals cartridge that I absolutely love! The butterfly border I stamped with the new Studio G stamps I found at Michael's and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Lets Play Catch Up!

While I'm sticking to my new years resolution about keeping up on my blog I figure we could play a little catch up and I would post some of the Christmas projects I did last year. The first was this box I made using the gable box Gypsy file from Magoo's Design~Create~Inspire blog. The snowman is from Snow Friends, the snowflakes are from When It's Cold Outside, the polar bear is from Joys of the Season, the trees are from Christmas Solutions, and finally the saying is from Winter Woodland. I love this box! It was super easy and if you cut it on the 12x24 mat it is the perfect size for a gift. In fact my boys put their gift for grandma in this one!

Up next are some Christmas cards I made, The first set is all done with papers and embellishments from My Minds Eye Colorful Christmas Collection. This was my favorite holiday collection this year and I had a lot of fun make these bright and cheery cards.

Last, but not least, are some other various cards I made using some other My Minds Eye papers and Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses papers. The little gingerbread house is a Jolee's embellishment and the snowflake was cut on my Cricut.

New Year New..... Earthquakes?

I'm sure many of you have seen flashes of our small town on the news today showing the 6.5 magnitude eathquake that struck yesterday afternoon. In true scrapbooking fashion I happened to be at our first crop of the year when it happened. I've lived here since I was born and been through several of these now, but this one was pretty scary. I had to actually get under a table to avoid the wood mounted stamps falling from the shelves behind me and then the lights went out. The classroom where we have our crops does not have windows as it is in the back of the building so everything was pitch black. It is a very disorienting feeling to be in the dark and here things moving and crashing but not be able to tell if it's going to come down on you. Thankfully the wonderful group of ladies I was with were all ok and all very calm about the situation. There is some moderate damage around the county and we did not have power most of the night last night, but people are being very considerate of each other and I think we will all pull out of it just fine.

This gave me a great opportunity to get started on my new year's resolutions! One was to keep up on my blog and post more even if it's not a project. Voila! My first post! The next was to stop taking on so many projects for others and get caught up on my own. (Which I was doing at crop until the interruption) I also resolved to keep up on my laundry, be more active, and not to let petty arguments get in the way of my true friendships. My Cricut class for the month is a layout listing all of these and will have a spot to journal if I stick with them or not. (pictures will be up soon). I hope all of you are starting your new year off well and that you will be reading more of my posts as I am determined to stick with it. Happy New Year!

Halloween Treat Box

I taught my very first Cricut class tonight! It was so much fun and thankfully I had a group of ladies that I have gotten pretty comfortable with. Our project was a Halloween treat box cut from Wedding Solutions and embellished using Paper Doll Dress Up. The shading you see on the box and embellishments was all done with distress inks. The bats were an EK Success punch that I used black metallic cardstock with and then covered with Glossy Accents. The moons were page pebbles. I covered the back of them with Perfect Pearls and then ran them through my Xyron to make them sticky again. This was a lot of fun and the ladies were very pleased with their boxes. Ghosts and Ghouls

I love Paper Dolls! I made this adorable card from it. For the background I used distress inks in spiced marmalade, dusty concord, and black soot. I cut the castle, ghost, mummy and

trick-or-treat bag from Paper Dolls. I shaded them with the distress inks and markers. The bats are from an EK Success punch. for the moon I covered the adhesive side of a page pebble with Perfect Pearls and then ran it through my Xyron to make it stick again. I am having so much fun with these cards and hopefully they are inspiring you to make your own!

Fright Night

I have been having so much fun with these Halloween cards and projects. Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays. For this wonderfully creepy card I started with a white 5x7 card and used Tim Holtz distress inks (spiced marmalade and black soot) to color and distress it. I cut the tree and the fence from Paper Doll Dress Up and inked them as well. The bats are a Studio G stamp that I embossed with distress embossing powder. Finally I drew in the spider webs and added the spiders and cat which are Jolee's accents.

Spooky Little Monsters

So for the past week or so I have been on a major Halloween kick. It might be all the cute projects I've been seeing on other blogs or the fact that we got a ton of new stuff at Scrapper's Edge, but here are the first 2 projects I completed tonight. Both cards feature a cute little monster cut from Paper Dolls and paper by K & Co. The first is a mini card made for a gift bag.

The second also features K & Co. paper Inkadinkadoo Stamp and the scalloped circle from Storybook. I also shaded the monsters with pen and added Stickles to make them pop. Check back tomorrow for project 2!

Wild & Crazy

My dear best friend has a thing for piercings. I don't even think I can count how many holes are in her ears. LOL Anyway, the shop where she has all her piercings done told her that if she brought in a scrapbook page of her piercings they would give her a free one. So of course she came to me to put something together for her. Her style is always bold and bright so I knew I had to come up with something a little wild and funky to match it. I used the Blackletter for the letters, shadowed in silver bling. The flowers were cut from Wedding Solutions on glossy black paper then stamped and embossed in silver. After putting it all together I still felt like the top half was too plain so I stamped the flourishes and added the pearls. It totally fits her and she loves it. Definitely different than anything else I've ever done, but lots of fun.

8. What is your favorite local escape?The beach or my grandparents. Sometimes I forget how beautiful it is where we live. The coast and the redwoods and mountains, we really are lucky to have such beauty around us.

9. How do you escape on a budget? Usually we will take a weekend trip to a city close by. Any city usually has more things to do than we have at home and the kids are always wanting to check out new places.

Best food you've ever had while on vacation. In St. Lucia we ate at a flat grill where they cook the food in front of you. It was amazing. I’m not big on seafood and I ate every bite. Plus the chef was a riot and we had wonderful people at our table.

New Album

I finally made my first chipboard album! I am so excited with how it turned out. My husband is always saying that I never make things for him, just for everyone else, so I made this album of pictures of us for him. I cut the pages from Storybook (love the marquee shapes) and covered them with paper from My Little Yellow Bicycle. The stamps are Basic Grey and were embossed with distress embossing powder.

Thr rub-ons throughout the album are Basic Grey and K & Co.

Whimsical Bugs & Scraps Challenge

So the Whimsical Bugs challenge this time was a color challenge.

I honestly wasn't super inspired by these particular colors because with the exception of the blue they are the same as I used on my last challenge. BUT..... I was inspired by my distress class and just happened to have all the right color inks to pull it off. I've been making a tag example book for work so I decided to run with the tag idea. I cut the tags from Tags Bags Boxes & More at 5 inches. The orange tag was done with Orange Marmalade Distress Ink, Studio G stamps and Prima flowers. The green tag is Shabby Shutters Distress Ink edged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, more Studio G's and Prima flowers.

I love the bright warmness of the Orange Marmalade ink, it's so yummy!

This one is very simple but still pretty. Even with the flowers its still somewhat masculine.

Distress To Impress

Last week I took my first ever class at the scrapbook store where I work. The owner (Sondra) was lucky enough to be able to attend Ranger U this year and learn techniques directly from Tim Holtz and other instructors. I had never done any kind of distressing so I thought this would be a good class for me to learn new techniques. We learned 6 different techniques using Tim Holtz's line of distress products and let me tell you I am now hooked! After learning the techniques our project was to complete a grunge board quilt. Of course I didn't finish mine that night, but I was so excited that I bought all the products and took it home to finish it. I am so happy with how it turned out and I'm thinking of doing a slightly different version as Christmas presents. All of the pieces are grunge board glued to a piece of heavy chipboard. All of the color was done using the distress inks and the blending tool or the distress crackle paint.

Vintage Challenge

This layout I did was for the vintage challenge over at Whimsical Scraps and Bugs. The colors and patterned paper reminded me of my grandma's 60's/70's style kitchen and dishes. LOL Anyway, the paper is from the DCWV Kitchen stack, the letters were cut from Lyrical Letters and the sunflowers are from Walk In My Garden. I covered the letters and center of the flowers with Ranger's Glossy Accents to give them a little dimension. For the lacing I used brads to wrap the ribbon around and secured the bow with a glue dot. Hope it's vintage enough.

I Adore You

So I started this layout of my niece and I several months ago, but didn't finish it. This month SSPT challenge gave a photo for inspiration and it happen to fit the criteria so I went back to it. The paper was from a stack I got at Michael's a long time ago. The ribbon and slider are from making memories, the flowers are Prima and the title was done with Bazzill Bling. The pearls were my biggest challenge. The 2 shades of purple were from a pack and the pearls were all linked together, but the white pearls were individuals and had to be placed separately (what a pain). I am really happy with the way it turned out though. I think this is one of my favorite layouts ever.

The Addiction Part 2!

Well here is the last of it! I got Walk In My Garden, Tags Bags Boxes & More, and Zooballoo from Creative Express for $25 each! These were ones I had been wanting but wasn't in a hurry to get, but who can say no to $25 for Cricut carts! I did also manage to win Stand & Salute on Ebay for $19 and Speaking of School for $12!!!! Still waiting for them to arrive. The other fun find I got were these 3 journal tablets from My Little Yellow Bicycle. I love them. I got school, sports and birthdays, but there are others as well. Can't wait to start using all these goodies! Hopefully I will have things to post soon and be a "scrapper" instead of just a "shopper."

Shopping Addiction

So I've had a little bit of a shopping problem lately. Over the past couple of weeks I've accumulated quite a few fun new things and I'm still waiting for a couple to arrive. First on my list is my favorite new adhesive, my new Glue Glider Pro. It works great and is so easy to use and its not a monstrosity. Lol!

The "&" Challenge

So the new job is fabulous. I have been working my butt off the past week stocking and rearranging things in the store, but it is so much fun when I get to help people with there choices and projects. I even signed up for my first ever class. I've always wanted to take one but have never done it. The class is called "Distress to Impress" and it uses the whole line of distressing inks and embossing powders from Tim Holtz. Can't wait to go so I can post my project on here!

This week the challenge over at Whimsical Scraps and Bugs was to use the "&" cut from any Cricut cartridge. 2 sayings immediately popped into my head, "Me & You" and "Hugs & Kisses." Since I have been on a black and pink kick I went with "Hugs & Kisses" and came up with this cute card. The card was cut from Wild Card and the letters are from Lyrical Letters. The flocked paper is MAMBI and the lips are an acrylic accent.

I did miss out on the Sugar Sweet Paper Treats challenge this time, which was "Splish Splash." It was kind of last minute and I didn't get a chance to do it with everything going on. But hopefully I will be back in the swing of things this week and have lots more to post for you. Happy scrapping!

My First Day!

So I finally found a new job that I think I am going to be very happy with. Today was my first day working at my local scrapbook store! Scrapper's Edge! You can check out the stores blog here http://blog.scrappersedge.net/ Even for a first day I was fairly busy. I put together a huge shadow box tribute for a local law enforcement officer, tried to familiarize myself with the store layout and inventory and helped out with a couple of printing jobs (the store also does printing and copying services). The shadow box was a little bit of a challenge since there were multiple badges, pins, patches and pictures, as well as a pen and set of handcuffs. I was pretty happy with the results and my new boss seemed to be as well. Tomorrow I will be learning more of the retail aspects which should come pretty easy since there is rarely huge differences in retail stores. I think this will be a job I can be happy with for quite a while!
